Fundraising Updates

It will take the engagement of our entire community to strengthen our response to domestic violence. With adequate support, survivors can break the cycle of violence for themselves, their children, and the generations that follow.

Please consider the most generous financial investment you can make to support the success of this essential expansion of emergency shelter space for survivors and children in our community.

Since decided to launch a Capital Campaign to build a new emergency shelter, we have utilized a multi-faceted approach to raise funding.

  1. Applied for grants to fund the project
Through these efforts, we were able to obtain $10 million in commitments from funders

2. Launched our quiet phase- during this time, we met with our longtime donors and supporters who provided early funding commitments
-During this phase, our longtime supporters made $4 million worth of contributions to the project

3. Launched the Public Phase- we are currently using both traditional and electronic media to share information with the public about our project.  As part of this phase, we are encouraging people to host Heart for Helpmate events.  In addition, Helpmate’s staff is facilitating presentations to civic groups, faith groups, businesses and other groups, upon invitation.  To request Helpmate comes to speak with your group, please contact Lauren Jackson, Development Coordinator at ljackson@helpmateonline.org or 828-254-2968 ext. 134
